Dark Water 6

A polar bear cub is suspended in the dark arctic sea, the lights of the dancing northern lights play on its fur. Although younger cubs ride on their mothers' back as they are not yet insulated against the icy water, this older cub has no trouble staying afloat. Polar bears are quite buoyant and so he is not far from the water's surface. But he looks back into the distance. What does he see? How far away is his mother and sibling?
