A beautiful polar bear swims toward the light. Is it the sea or the sky in which it travels? Does the swirl of light connect it to its earthly roots, or does it mark the bear's passage to live amongst the stars and northern lights..
As with all my polar bear paintings , I am inspired by the beauty and intelligence of the polar bear and the wonder of nature it represents. The polar bear is vulnerable due to climate change. So, in this painting, there is a certain mood of longing, imploring the bear not to leave us behind.

The beautiful arctic wolf inspired this original oil painting. The round canvas and black frame is meant to give the illusion of looking through a portal or scope. Arctic wolves are comfortable living in the months of arctic darkness and frigid weather. In this painting, the dancing northern lights guide its travels.
Polar bears, my usual subject matter, are about the only animal this beautiful white wolf has to be wary of.
This painting is round, and comes in a round black frame, wired and ready for hanging. However it can sit on a small table easel as well. It is signed by the artist & has a unique work completion number .

Reverence 2 is a beautiful original oil painting of a polar bear atop an ice floe. The dance of the northern lights highlights this wonderful bear. The northern lights aren’t really these colours but I have used my artistic license to emphasis the powerful emotion of witnessing the aurora and a polar bear hold! I had some fun using a red background to create against and I left the edges red. The red that peaks through the painting and on the edges symbolizes how we are connected to this bear through lifeline and love.
The painting is pretty, but the polar bear is on a small ice flow surrounded by dark water. We are to remember that it is the frozen sea this bear needs to survive.

Looking Back, Moving Forward is is an oil painting in the Into the Sunset Series. The theme is of mindful reflection, wonder and hope.
A beautiful polar bear is portrayed against the setting sun, and the sea. It is spring. The darkness of the winter is retreating, as is the sea ice, so important for the polar bear's survival.
As the sun sets, its glory is reflected in what remains of the sea ice and off the polar bear's translucent fur. We can reflect, too. What will we lose under the threat of climate change? A setting sun offers hope with a new day ahead, but "into the sunset" can also signify the end.
This is a 24” x 24” x 1.5” oil painting on canvas. The painting continues around the edges.
This painting is sold and in a private collection.

In Reverence 3 , a polar bear, revelling in its freedom and wildness, roars at the northern lights. They respond by gaily dancing around him. These northern lights are stylized and simplified as I have used my artistic license to emphasis the powerful emotion that arises from experiencing the north, the aurora and , last but not least, the polar bear.
Usually my polar bear paintings portraits are larger, and of dark water, and limited palette. With this new series of square foot paintings, I am having fun painting on red backgrounds and keeping the edges (sides) RED. The red that peaks through the painting and on the edges symbolizes how we are connected to this bear through lifeline and love.
Although I have strived for beauty in this scene, the small amount of ice present reminds us of the bear's vulnerability to climate change. It is the frozen sea that the polar bear needs to survive and the lights offers hope that good hunting on the frozen sea lies on the horizon.

The tundra buggy is about the only man made element observed out on the protected tundra. The oversized wheel and worn wood sides offer a graphic element to the sub arctic landscape and create a frame from which the curious polar bear enters.
By the way, the polar bear is not bothered at all by the presence of this vehicle. There is limited access out on the highly protected tundra, occupants cannot leave the vehicle, and we odd humans are an interesting diversion on the polar bear travels to the Hudson Bay coast.
This was my very first use of the palette knife. I like the bear, was curious. It seems this one tool can both create texture and ultra smooth surface- two opposites just like the subject matter of the manmade graphic vehicle and the living more organic shaped polar bear.

Family, love, togetherness are represented by this pink, gold and rose gold acrylic paint on wood panel. The polar bear is an intelligent, good mother. Polar bear cubs climb all over the mama bear just as our human little ones do. Her cubs stay with her for about 30 months. In my art gold paint represents the royalty and intelligence of the polar bears, and the richness of nature. Crackled white paint adds to the illusion of fur in the painting, but the "cracks" also symbolize the vulnerability of this polar bear family due to climate change. A stylized gold ribbon behind them represents the northern lights, as well as our connection to the bears. The sides of the wood panel are painted gold. The painting is wired and ready for hanging.

"Dark Water 2" is a 12' x 12" oil painting on canvas of a young bear - a cub of about two years old and possibly still with his mother - swimming beneath the ocean surface. He looks back as if searching. Is his mother and sibling near by? The light of the northern lights dances across his thick white fur, the light and dark strikes symbolizing hope or the lack of it. What will his future hold? The oil paintings of Dark Water depict a solitary polar bear at night in the arctic fall. The bear swims in a still dark sea, a dramatic dark backdrop for its dense white fur and highly intelligent face. The polar bear is the only bear that is a marine mammal. The bear’s size and strength combine with its slightly webbed front paws and highly insulated and buoyant body to make it a powerful swimmer. The polar bear in each of these paintings is fully at home, whether shown above or below the water’s surface.

About In the Pink. Spring has arrived in the north. The sea ice, so vital to the polar bear's survival is receding. For now, this bear, that looks looks healthy and beautiful in the rosy reflections of the setting sun, is "in the pink" both literally and figuratively. The pinks and corals in this painting are attractive, as well as calming. The painting carries around the edges of the canvas. The canvas is signed, has a unique work completion number. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.

This polar bear oil painting portrait shows a bright eyed polar bear against a stylized arctic night sky of swirling northern lights (aurora borealis) and stars. I created this in one long continuous painting session. I was thinking of the movement in Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” as I did so, and I had also decided on the title “Sky Spirit”. It wasn't until I put down my brush for the day, that I noticed the stylized "s" of the northern lights. This polar bear oil painting is another in my series "Polar Bear Dreams" Series, paintings that pay tribute to these mighty arctic mammals whose future is "of concern".Edges are painted. Wired and ready for hanging. Certificate of Authenticity provided.

A beautiful little polar bear cub poses with his paws together as if in prayer.
A polar bear cub lives innocently in the moment, vying for the attention of its mother, and rough-housing with its sibling But it would be easy to imagine what a cub would pray for if it knew better. Like for many of us, this little bear would enjoy a long, healthy life, with enough food to eat, security to travel, and a family to love.In this acrylic painting on wood panel, I use gold paint to symbolize the beauty and richness of the nature found on our planet, the royalty of the polar bear, and the double edged sword of the sun rays. I often use a "crackling method" as seen in this artwork, to symbolize the vulnerability of the polar bear. The edges of this polar bear cub painting are gold acrylic. It is signed, comes with a unique work completion number, and a Certificate of Authenticity. It is wired and ready to hang.

Polar bear portrait oil painting (6" x 12"). Through searching online, I discovered Silatuyok is the Inuit word for cute, intelligent, and shrewd. & so the perfect title for this polar bear art. But as adorable as the big polar bear may seem, I have given a nod to his real nature – an intelligent, playful, but deadly predator – by making sure his giant claws on those polar bear paws are clear. I love painting those big paws with the claws, almost as much painting as those thickly insulated polar bear ears, and the polar bear's coal - black nose. Private collection.
